Nib Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Fivenine Design ("we") handles information in Nib, our iOS / macOS app. Nib is built on the principle that your notes belong on your device — we collect as little as possible.

1. What stays on your device

All of the following happens entirely on your device and is never sent to our servers or anyone else's:

• Recorded audio and its transcription (Apple's on-device speech recognition)
• Semantic search analysis (on-device embedding models)
• Text recognition in attached images (OCR)
• Free-plan AI summaries, cleanup, and tag suggestions (Apple's on-device AI)

Recordings and images are stored only on your device and are excluded from iCloud sync.

2. What cloud AI features send

Only when you use a cloud AI feature (AI minutes, chat, co-writing), the relevant note text, transcript, and your instructions are sent through our relay server to an AI model provider.

• Content is sent solely to generate the response; our relay does not store it
• Your content is never used to train AI models
• Unless you invoke a cloud AI feature, your notes never leave your device

3. What we collect

• An anonymous device identifier: a random ID generated by the app, used only to enforce fair-use limits on cloud AI per device. It is never linked to your name, email, or identity. Usage records expire automatically within 40 days.
• Subscription status: purchases are processed by Apple. We verify Apple's signed receipt only to confirm your subscription, and we never see your payment details.

Nib requires no account and contains no ads, no tracking, and no analytics SDKs.

4. iCloud sync

Notes sync between your devices through your own iCloud account (Apple CloudKit). We cannot access their contents. Sync is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

5. Sharing with third parties

We do not share your information with third parties except as required by law. Transmission to AI model providers (section 2) is limited to what the feature requires.

6. Children's privacy

Nib is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page and in the app.
